Remix OS (short for Remix Operating System) is an Android OS based on Android-x86 Open Source Project (AOSP) through deep customization and secondary development. It was started by 3 ex-Google engineers from China, written in C (core), C++, Java (UI). Remix OS for PC allows users to run Android mobile apps/games on any Intel-based PC, and mainly uses tablet PC, all-in-one machine, smart display as its carrier at present.

While keeping compatible with most Android apps and games, Remix OS for PC added a lot of features and applications suitable for desktop operation. One of its founders said: “Remix can be considered as a mixed-blood of Windows and Android". We can obviously feel this point from its UI design: strong flavor of Windows + visual effects preferring Android style. In addition, because this system provides operations similar to Android, users can quickly get started. Although Remix OS is heavily influenced by Android on system design, its operation and application scenarios are quite different.

Comparing the running fluency with common Android emulators, Remix OS for PC is definitely the only winner. It is capable of directly defeating any Android emulators (including BlueStack, Genymotion, Andy, Droid4X, ARC Welder, and more) and smartphones. Just one thing, Remix OS for PC needs to take up a single computer. Because it is not an emulator boarding on a computer, but a real OS needs to be installed on a real machine with supported hardware. Of course, for desktop systems, Remix OS for PC is not powerful enough. But please note that, it is a mobile operating system. That’s to say, even a simple taskbar or right-click function can greatly enhance the convenience on daily usage.
